PwC Germany and IBIS Prof. Thome AG: Digital technology supports auditors (2015)

Leading auditing firm and innovative IT company enter into strategic partnership / Unique data analysis noticeably improves audit quality and efficiency

Frankfurt am Main, March 30, 2015

PwC Germany is entering into a strategic partnership with IBIS Prof. Thome AG. The aim of the cooperation is to further improve the quality of the audit with the help of digital technologies and to jointly develop innovative technological solutions. The first result of the collaboration is an intelligent software that provides comprehensive support for auditors in identifying audit priorities, conducting system and process audits, and auditing individual items. The analyses are carried out directly in the client's systems.

“As a leading auditing firm, we want to offer our clients the most innovative audit methods. Thanks to our cooperation with IBIS, we are now able to comprehensively analyze all of the data of the company to be audited with our jointly developed solution 'Halo for SAP' and thus significantly advance the audit. This is how we expand our technology leadership in auditing, further increase the quality of our audit services and create added value for our clients,” says Harald Kayser, Chairman of the Audit Committee at PwC Germany.

“‘Halo for SAP’ is based on IBIS‘ ’Reverse Business Engineering‘ methodology and ’RBE Plus' technology. The analysis package offers comprehensive technical support for the auditor. It massively expands the view into the information systems of the company to be audited and enables auditors to analyze business transactions faster and more reliably than ever before. This marks a breakthrough in the use of digital technologies in auditing,” comments Dr. Andreas Hufgard, Chief Development Officer at IBIS.

Over the past few years, auditing has developed from the systematic recording of business processes and their sample-based testing, to analysis using automatic controls, to a close examination of complex process flows and their internal control systems. With the help of the RBE software and methodology, which has already been extensively tested by large companies, the audit of the effectiveness of business process controls and the identification of critical audit areas can be significantly improved.
