One step ahead of EUDR

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is in force and with it the obligation to fully trace certain products and raw materials. Companies that are affected not only need to know which materials are covered by the regulation, but also whether their SAP data meets these requirements.

Many companies are still working with assumptions or selective queries. However, this is not enough to meet the increasing requirements for due diligence and traceability. A systematic, transaction-based analysis with a focus on real risks and potential data gaps is crucial.

This is exactly where our EUDR analysis comes in. It creates transparency in your data landscape, directly in your SAP system.

What our analysis does

Our solution identifies weaknesses before they become a problem and creates a sound database for audits, evidence and internal decisions. The analysis focuses on four central aspects:

· Identify relevant materials
A combination of customs tariff numbers (HS/KN codes) and material use - for example as merchandise, in-house production or packaging - is used to identify potentially EUDR-relevant raw materials, e.g. wood, cocoa, coffee, soy or beef.

· Analyze transactions
The analysis is based on real business transactions, not just master data. Import and export processes, relocations, recycling processes and partner relationships are recorded, including quantities and plants.

· Identify data gaps
Missing origin details, unclear weights or undefined material groups are not uncommon, but should be addressed as part of due diligence. The analysis identifies these gaps before they become compliance risks.

 · Overall view of all plants in the client
The analysis includes all relevant transactions across all plants and organizational units. This allows best practice plants to be identified.

Your benefits

The EUDR analysis gives you a complete overview of all affected materials in your company, including their actual use in production, trade or packaging. Thanks to this maximum transparency, you are well equipped for queries and verification obligations.

At the same time, the analysis enables weak points in data maintenance to be identified at an early stage and rectified in a targeted manner. This not only increases data quality, but also minimizes the risk of audits and regulatory checks.

You create a solid data basis, whether for internal purposes, external platforms or traceability tools. Regular updates ensure your EUDR compliance in the long term, even in the event of changing data or regulatory adjustments.

Typical findings from the analysis

· SAP materials with potential EUDR relevance
Determined via customs tariff numbers and material usage, such as wood in packaging or cocoa in commercial products.

· Transactions involving third countries
Import and export transactions with potential EUDR relevance, including information on the plant, quantity and business partners involved.

· Missing origin information
Country of origin is not maintained or is too general (e.g. “EU”), which means that complete traceability is not possible.

· Unclear use of materials
The same materials are used differently in different plants, it is unclear whether they are merchandise, in-house production or packaging.

· Lack of transparency when comparing clients
Different data standards and maintenance habits between units make risk assessment and auditability more difficult.
