SAP x IBIS Prof. Thome AG Networking Day 2025

Early in the morning, a part of our team set off for Walldorf, the headquarters of SAP, with great anticipation for the upcoming Networking Day. A day that was entirely dedicated to exchange and collaboration, and which demonstrated to us how essential personal encounters continue to be in the digital age.

Warmly Received and Right in the Thicket of Events

Immediately upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Sofia Aguilar Rodriguez. During a relaxed welcome coffee, initial conversations developed, and the atmosphere was instantly open, interested, and inspiring. The perfect prelude to a day filled with exchange.

Strategic Insights and IBIS Presentation

Following the welcome, the official program commenced: colleagues from SAP presented compelling insights into current strategies, future topics, and technological developments moving the market. For us, it was particularly fascinating to observe how current and future challenges are assessed from the SAP perspective and which interfaces emerge  with our own solution approaches.

Subsequently, we had the opportunity to present IBIS Prof. Thome AG in a brief presentation. Larissa Petersen, Johannes Schulz, and Fabian Krüger provided insight into our work, our vision, and our current projects.

Speed Networking with Added Value

One of the highlights of the day was the speed networking: in short, intensive rounds of discussion, we became acquainted with the other participants from a wide variety of areas and with exciting perspectives. The mixture of structure and spontaneity made it possible to get to know the counterpart from a completely different angle.

This exchange was not only personally enriching but also professionally inspiring. It demonstrated once again how much potential lies in an open, interdisciplinary dialogue.

Technology Up Close: Visit to the SAP Discovery Showroom

After a joint lunch break in the SAP canteen, we continued, refreshed, to the SAP Discovery Showroom. A place where technology becomes tangible. We were particularly impressed by the integration of SAP software into the Apple Vision Pro. In a practical demonstration, we were able to experience how augmented reality can already sustainably transform work processes today. It was impressively shown how modern technologies make everyday work not only more efficient but also more intuitive and interactive.

For us, this segment was particularly impressive because it not only illustrated the innovative strength of SAP but also demonstrated how close future technologies actually are to the present and what opportunities arise from this.

Tour of the SAP Campus

The day concluded with a guided tour of the extensive SAP campus, during which we were able to catch a first glimpse of the S.mart Store. Unfortunately, at the time of our visit, this was not yet open to the general public. We are eager to see if we can explore it in more detail during a future visit. All in all, the SAP Networking Day was a complete success for us, not only because of the depth of content but above all due to the appreciative, open exchange. We return with many new impressions, food for thought, and contacts, and look forward to continuing this dialogue, as innovation happens where people meet.
